Alberta Security / Investigator Licences
Under the Security Services and Investigators Act, individuals working in the security, investigation and locksmith services industry must be licensed. Working without a licence is an offense under the Act and may result in fines or court appearances.
Effective immediately, individuals can now apply for your license at our office for the following occupations:
Our office can process both new applications and renewals. Upon applying you will receive a temporary licence that is valid for 60 days. This temporary licence will allow you to work while you wait for the permanent licence in the mail.
Fees
Individual licences are issued for a 2 year term. All fees listed below are for a 2 year term.
Acceptable method of payment includes Cash, Debit or Cheque. Additional fee will apply for credit card payment.

Please Note
Applicants applying for a renewal licence CANNOT have a licence expiry exceeding 60 days.
Renewal application can only be processed within 60 days of the expiry date of the current license.
If you do not meet the above criteria, you must submit the applications/renewals to the Security Programs Office at the address on the application/renewal form.
